When a shipment to the Bronx absolutely cannot wait for standard freight, Pony Express sends a dedicated on-board courier to hand-carry it from the UK to New York on the next available flight. Your courier collects from anywhere in the UK, clears security with the shipment as accompanied baggage, and stays with it through JFK or Newark before completing the final hand-carry into the Bronx. Pricing is by quote. Call 0800 288 4052 to check flight availability and get an instant no-obligation quote.

How the route into the Bronx works

Most OBC shipments route through John F. Kennedy International, the primary long-haul gateway for the New York boroughs, with Newark Liberty used as a backup when JFK connections are tight. Once through US Customs and Border Protection, your courier drives the shipment directly into the Bronx — whether that's Hunts Point, the South Bronx industrial belt, or a hospital campus further north — rather than handing it to a domestic carrier.

What we carry into the Bronx

The Bronx is home to Hunts Point, the largest wholesale produce and food distribution market in the world, so we regularly hand-carry time-critical samples, packaging prototypes and lab specimens for food businesses trading there. We also support Montefiore and the borough's wider hospital network with urgent medical devices, diagnostic kits and clinical trial materials, alongside legal documents, engineering parts and high-value electronics that need to move faster than a courier network can guarantee.

Customs and clearance

Your on-board courier carries full commercial documentation and, where needed, we arrange a customs broker at the US end so clearance happens the moment the flight lands rather than after it's handed to a third party.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can a courier reach the Bronx? Once airborne, a typical UK–New York flight takes around 7–8 hours; door-to-door timing depends on your nearest available flight, which we check the moment you call.

Can you collect outside London? Yes — collection is available anywhere in the UK, with the courier routed to whichever UK airport gives the fastest connection.

What can't be hand-carried? Most documents, samples, spares and high-value goods qualify; anything hazardous or oversized is better suited to dedicated airfreight, which we can also arrange.

Do you deliver at night or on weekends? Yes, our on-board courier service runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

How much does it cost? Every OBC shipment is quoted individually based on route, flight cost and urgency — call for a same-day quote.
