Pony Express Couriers

Djanet, the oasis town beneath the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau in Algeria's far south-east, is one of the more remote points on our on-board courier (OBC) network. Pony Express collects anywhere in the UK and a dedicated courier hand-carries your shipment the entire way.

How the on-board courier service works

A single courier is assigned to your shipment from collection to final delivery, checking it in as accompanied baggage and remaining responsible for it through every leg of the journey and every customs point.

Route and nearest airport

Djanet Inedbirene Airport serves the town directly, usually reached via a connection through Algiers. Given the distance from the UK, we confirm realistic flight timings with you before your courier departs.

What we carry

We regularly hand-carry equipment for the region's tourism and trekking operators (Djanet is a gateway to the Tassili n'Ajjer UNESCO site), scientific and survey instruments, and urgent medical items.

Customs and clearance

Your courier carries commercial documentation and clears Algerian customs in person, reducing the risk of hold-ups that can affect unaccompanied cargo travelling to remote airports.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can you get moving? Usually within hours of your call.

Do you also offer standard same-day UK courier work? Yes, alongside our international OBC service.
What's the cost? Quoted individually — call 0800 288 4052 for a quote.
