In Salah sits almost exactly at the geographic centre of Algeria, in the middle of the Tanezrouft desert — a location where a hand-carried on-board courier (OBC) is often the only realistic way to move an urgent shipment quickly. Pony Express collects from anywhere in the UK and carries your goods personally, door to door.

How the on-board courier service works

A single dedicated courier collects your shipment, checks it in as accompanied baggage, and remains with it for the entire journey — through UK departure, any connections, and Algerian arrival — right up until it's handed to the recipient in person.

Route and nearest airport

In Salah is served by In Salah Airport (INZ), normally reached via a connecting flight through Algiers. Given the remoteness of the location, we build in realistic connection times and keep you updated on progress from collection to final handover.

What we carry

Typical shipments include parts and instrumentation for the gas processing facilities near In Salah, geological survey equipment, urgent medical items, and confidential business documents that need a verifiable chain of custody.

Customs and clearance

Because the courier is physically present with the goods, they can answer customs officers' questions directly and produce documentation on request, which materially reduces the risk of a shipment being held up at the border.

What sizes/weights can you carry? Most OBC shipments are handled as excess baggage — call to discuss your specific item.
How much does it cost? Pricing is quoted per job — call 0800 288 4052 for an instant, no-obligation quote.
