Pony Express Couriers

Pony Express operates an on-board courier (OBC) service to Shughnan, a high-altitude district of Badakhshan province in Afghanistan's Pamir region, bordering Tajikistan along the Panj river. A dedicated courier hand-carries your shipment personally from UK collection all the way to delivery, essential for reaching this remote north-eastern corner of the country reliably. Call 0800 288 4052 or email sales@ponyexpress.co.uk — pricing is by quote.

Route through the Pamirs

Shipments typically connect through Kabul before a regional flight or onward road transport into Badakhshan, with your courier accompanying the consignment for the whole journey into this mountainous terrain.

What we carry

Common shipments include AOG parts, legal and financial documents, medical supplies, and equipment or samples for mining and gemstone businesses in a region long known for lapis lazuli.

Customs and clearance

We complete invoices and import documentation ahead of travel so your courier clears customs promptly before continuing on to Shughnan.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is this a hard destination to reach? Yes, which is exactly why a dedicated courier rather than general freight is the reliable option.
  • Do you collect UK-wide? Yes, anywhere in the UK with direct drive to the airport.
  • How quickly can a courier leave? Usually on the next suitable flight, subject to documentation.
  • What's the cost? Quoted individually — call for a quote.
