When a shipment to Touggourt cannot wait for standard air freight, Pony Express provides a dedicated on-board courier (OBC) service: a single courier collects your consignment anywhere in the UK, hand-carries it as accompanied baggage, and stays with it door-to-door into Algeria's Sahara gateway city in Ouargla Province.

How our on-board courier service works

Once you call, we assign a dedicated courier who collects from your site, clears UK export formalities, and boards the next available flight — day or night, 24/7/365. The courier never lets the shipment out of their sight, which makes OBC the fastest option available for anything too urgent, fragile or valuable to trust to routine freight.

Route and nearest airport

Touggourt is served by Sidi Mahdi Airport (TGR), reached from the UK via a connection through Algiers' Houari Boumediene International Airport. Our courier flies out from Heathrow, Gatwick or a regional UK airport depending on availability, connects onward to Touggourt, and hand-delivers directly to the recipient's address in the city or the surrounding oilfield sites of Ouargla province.

What we carry

Typical OBC shipments to Touggourt include AOG (aircraft-on-ground) parts, drilling and wellhead components for the oil and gas operations that dominate the local economy, urgent medical supplies, legal and financial documents, and time-critical prototypes or samples.

Customs and clearance

Our courier carries full commercial documentation and manages Algerian customs clearance in person, which avoids the delays that unaccompanied freight can face. We advise on paperwork requirements — commercial invoice, certificate of origin and any import permits — before departure so nothing holds up delivery on arrival.
